Stay Safe in a Rip Current
Rip currents are very dangerous when going into the ocean, so I will give you some safety tips on what to do when stuck in the rip current:
- Stay calm and don’t fight the rip currents
- Swim parallel towards the shore, until you get out of the rip current
- If you feel like you can’t make it out or are a poor swimmer, call for help
- If you see someone else in trouble call a lifeguard,
- If there is no lifeguard on duty call 911
- Stay far from piers and jetties because that’s where most rip currents are
All these safety tips for the beach will keep everyone and yourself safe as long as you follow the rules and tips.
