Coming to Galveston soon? Already been to the beaches and theme parks? Looking for something different to do? Why don’t you attend Artoberfest? It’s an art showcasing that shows off the talents of over 100 artists throughout America. All of their work will be presented in The Strand District in a very relaxed environment surrounded with art galleries, restaurants, and boutique shops. Today we will discuss why Artoberfest is worth a visit from you and your family and things to do here.
Entertainment and Demonstrations
While you view the wonderful art pieces, you will also be entertained and possibly mesmerized by the music and art demonstrations. RedEye Carl Decuir will entertain Artoberfest guests as they enter through the gate at 23rd street. Redeye can be characterized as rock-n-roll that will keep you tapping your feet. Wayne D. Holt will also be performing at Artoberfest. His music style is very versatile, so anything he plays will keep you in a groove! Mike Stall will be doing a wood turning demonstration. It is quite dazzling watching him turn an ordinary piece of wood into an object such as a bowl or a wooded fruit. Justin Sanchez, a native Galvestonian, will be performing glassblowing. Don’t miss his performance as he will turn glass into any art form!

Admission Information
Admission is $5 per person, however kids 12 and under get in free. The event will take place from October 19-20 at the Strand. The address is 2020 Post office St. A portion of all admission sales will go toward benefiting the Educational Programs of The Grand 1894 Opera House. So, come on down and enjoy the artwork! It wont be here forever!

Dress for Weather
A volunteer t-shirt will be provided to you. It is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes as well as a hat and sunscreen. There will be a lot of walking so be prepared!
Be Open Minded
This program has many minute-by-minute changes, so be on your feet and ready to do something different if asked.
