Visiting Galveston soon? Not sure what to do since your kids are young? It may feel impossible to find an activity that is fun for you and keeps your children entertained, but Galveston happens to be a very kid and family-friendly city. Today we will discuss some activities on the island that your whole family will enjoy!
Pleasure Pier
With games, restaurants, and amusement rides for kids of all ages, Pleasure Pier is the place to be! Purchasing the All-Day Ride Pass gives you unlimited access to every ride all day. A ride that is a must try would have to be the Iron Shark Roller Coaster. It’s an extreme adrenaline rush that goes up to speeds of 52 miles per hour. Another extreme ride would have to be Revolution. It’s a coaster that sways you back and forth right over the ocean! Also Pleasure Pier is right off the water, so there are excellent views of the ocean!
Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is one place that will send you kids on an adventure. While you’re here, you should check out the Aquarium Pyramid, which gives you a real-life glimpse of marine life. Also, the Rainforest Pyramid offers you a glimpse of rainforests in continents such as:
- Asia
- Africa
- The Americas
There are also other activities such as:
- Theaters
- Golf course
- Colonel Paddlewheel Boat
- Water park
- Restaurants
- Ziplines
- Ropes course
You may choose to purchase an individual or one/two-day pass.
Galveston Island State Park
Galveston Island State Park is another great place for your kids to enjoy with endless amounts of outdoor activities such as:
- Fishing
- Bird watching
- Hiking
- Kayaking
- Swimming
- Camping
Entry is $5 a person, but kids 12 and under get in for free. You can hang out at the park, go to the beach, or spend the night at one of their 66 campsites!
Schlitterbahn
Do not fear! Schlitterbahn has water activities for kids of all ages such a:
- kids’ areas
- beaches
- lazy river
- heated pools
If there is one ride you must go on, it would have to be the MASSIV. It just so happens to be the world’s tallest water coaster. It’s an exhilarating experience that you don’t want to miss out on! Cabana rentals are also available for you and your family to recharge and relax. There is an endless amount of food in the park, so your child getting hungry will never be an issue. You are also allowed to bring your own food into the park!
In Conclusion
These are just a few of my favorite activities as a kid and now as a teenager. There is so much more to do in Galveston. So one thing is for sure, you will never get bored exploring! 😉
