Haunted House

How to Know if the Mayfield Manor is Really Haunted? (2018)

Are you coming to Galveston soon?? Wanting to try something new and different than your typical beach activities? Why not visit Mayfield Manor?  Mayfield Manor is based off of the home of Dr. Horace Mayfield, who was a well-respected physician on the Island.

His passion was the study of the mentally ill. His studies revolved around how an individual would act in a scary situation. All of his research was unfortunately lost in the 1900 Galveston hurricane.

The loss of all his documentation is rumored to have driven Mayfield insane. His madness is said to continue into today’s times as he tries to remake all of his lost work through spirit and by way of haunting his mansion!

While Mayfield Manor is considered “haunted,” some argue the legitimacy of that statement. I would have to agree with them. Here are the reasons why.

  • Halloween House

The house is set up as a typical haunted house you would visit during Halloween anywhere in the United States. There are workers there who are dressed up to scare you. Also, when I attended Mayfield Manor, it seemed very planned out as a normal set up haunted house would be.

  • Lack of Paranormal Proof

There is no documentation of Ghost Hunters entering the house and using their special gadgets to look for paranormal activity. Therefore, it can’t be scientifically proven that the house is haunted.

  • Lack of History

Another reason as to why Mayfield Manor is haunted is the lack of information about the history of the house. Besides what I have explained in my intro, there is not much more information about what exactly Mayfield did to his patients or what happened to him after he went insane.

While I had a blast visiting Mayfield Manor, I do not believe that it is actually haunted.

In Conclusion

Mayfield Manor is an awesome place to visit if you’re looking for a good scare. There’s 12 amazing rooms with different surprises. The place is a fun to come to, but don’t let the great acting of the crew and the set up of the house fool you.

There is not enough evidence to prove that Mayfield Manor is actually haunted. Besides that, it is a place that I would totally recommend anyone to visit for great fun. So the next time you come down to Galveston, come explore Mayfield Manor if you’re looking for a good scare!
