Girlfriends Weekend

Girls Weekend on the Island

It’s Girls Weekend in Galveston every weekend! It’s a perfect opportunity to relax ad enjoy your time with all your besties. With the beautiful beach, shopping areas, and much more, you guys will never be bored.  Today we will discuss all of the great things you and your girlfriends can do while in Galveston.

What to Eat and Drink

Eating good food and drinking exquisite wine is probably the first thing on your to do list, and Galveston is the place to do both!

My favorite restaurant is the Grotto, which is located inside the San Luis Resort. Now I’ve eaten a lot of pizza in my life, but the house-made pizzas are something you should definitely take a chance on.  I would also certainly recommend the Salmon Brioso, which is served with lump crab meat. With an amazing glass of wine by my side along with the delicious food, this was definitely one of the better restaurants I’d been to.

Another great dining spot I would recommend to you would have to be Number 13. It has a very Manhattan like atmosphere and is the perfect spot for you and the girls to kick back and unwind after a long day of fun. I enjoyed the bread pudding and shrimp crostini the most, but I would most certainly come back for the cocktails! I would recommend getting the Elderflower Champagne Cocktail and the Irish Two-Step, which includes Irish whiskey, honey liqueur, and grapefruit bitters.

Another establishment with amazing drinks is the Rooftop Bar. I would recommend trying the rosemary gimlet and pomegranate martini.

The Strand

Take a trip back into time and visit the Strand. It is filled with many restaurants and has an interesting shopping area. The Strand gives me a very throwback vibe with the 20th century architecture and buildings.

Every single building had a plaque giving historical facts about each of them. I love shopping at the Hendley Market, which just so happened to be the first commercial farming building in the Strand. You can find unique items such as antique medical instruments, old books, Victorian era items, and Mexican retablos.

As for restaurants, I would recommend Yagas café and the Hubcap grill, which has the best burgers on the island!

Where to Stay

Yea you could rent a hotel and share the pool, beach and other amenities with everyone. Or, you gals could rent your own beach home right on the beach. You guys get the house all to yourself as well as your own private beach. Also note that most hotels are across the street from the beach, not right on the Gulf!

Yep you heard that right! You guys get a large portion of the beach all to yourself with no noise or distractions. In fact, you can rent my personal beach house. It is piled with all the necessary cooking utensils, has 4 bedrooms, and is right on the beautiful beach!
