Beachcombing 101

Join head ranger Lisa in a beachcombing expedition on the shore. You will find natural treasures such as seashells, sea beans and much more. There will be a brief orientation with the head ranger about the best combing techniques and basic identification skills. I would recommend dressing warm and being ready to get your feet wet! If you are attending this activity, you should bring:

  • Park permit
  • Clothes you are comfortable getting wet in
  • Refreshments
  • Bucket for collections

This event takes place on March 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th.

Birding 101

How would you like to go on a hiking expedition to see many of the migratory birds in Galveston? Before the hike, park rangers will give you a brief orientation about identification, bird interactions and field skills. You also get the chance to learn how to use binoculars if you’ve never used them before.  You should bring:

  • Park permit
  • Binoculars (will be provided if you don’t have any)
  • Outdoor clothing
  • Refreshments

This event takes place on March 2nd and 9th.
