FeatherFest Galveston 2019

What is Featherfest?

If you love birds, or are a photographer, or just want to do something different that gives you exercise, and more, attending FeatherFest 2019 in Galveston might be a good idea for you.

 Every year, thousands of birds come toward the Galveston Island when migrating and hundreds of tourists and neighbors follow suit to see more than 200 species of brightly-colored birds around town. FeatherFest is a fun four-day of birding and nature photography, adventurous trips, and social events. You may even get a chance to meet and talk with some of the best naturalists in the whole country.

When is FeatherFest?

FeatherFest is always held the 3rd weekend of April unless Easter falls that weekend, then it is moved to the second week of April. Here are the FeatherFest dates to 2021:

  • April 11-14, 2019
  • April 16-19, 2020
  • April 15-18, 2021

What Activities are There?

  • Raptor Shows- Some Raptor Shows can be free, while others can cost money. You will be able to hear about the history of these birds and how they fly, their unique traits, and abilities. You will be able to see birds like Red Tailed Hawks, Great Horned Owls, Lanner Falcons, and more. For more information visit here.
  • Fledging Fest- This is designed for kids 6 and older and their parent, as they can take part in on or more of the events as part of the nature adventure. You must be registered to attend. For more information and to register visit this their site here. 
  • Birding Field Trips- On these “field trips” you will be able to see many different types of cool and unique birds. The bird guide will help talk you through it and more. There are many different types of “field trips” to go on. For more information, please visit their site here.
  • Photography Field Trips- On these trips, you will be able to have hundreds of opportunities to take pictures of beautiful and unique birds. There are many different types of trips, you can take and prices do vary. For more information go here.
